Frequently Asked Questions

So how does this work?

If you are over 18 or older, you can show up with your valid, government-issued ID and signup for races. (On weekends, please call us before you leave the house to check and see if there is a wait time) (650) 692-7223

Choose a track:

Yokohama Track - high speed sweeping course
Monza Track - more technical with an elevation change
SuperTrack (Sundays 5-9pm; Mondays 12-10pm) - 3/8 mile course with over 20 left and right turns, 2 chicanes and an elevation change. The longest indoor track in the US!

Choose a session:

Starting May 2008, Saturday and Sunday Hot Laps and Race sessions will be 10% less time to accommodate more racers.

Hot Laps Session-10 minutes racing for your fastest lap time. Drivers will complete approximately 15-20 laps.
Race Session-5 minutes of qualifying, then line up on the grid in order of fastest time, then race for 15 minutes to cross the finish line first.

After you decide on what session you would like to do we will schedule you based on the track availability.

What is a GoKart Racer License?

The $7 GoKart Racer license is your membership to our facility that everyone needs to have before they drive on our tracks. It includes membership for a year, a headsock, and one free Hot Laps session during the 3 days before and after your birthday. After you receive your license, just show it to us when you come in to speed up the check-in process.

Do I need to make a reservation?

You do not need to make a reservation. If you have a group of 6 or more people and you give us two days notice, we would recommend that you do make a reservation. This guarantees your time and sessions on our tracks. Click Here to submit a reservation request or give us a call at (650) 692-7223 x2314.
If you are planning on just dropping by with a group of people without a reservation, we suggest you call us beforehand for track availability - (650) 692-7223 x0.

Who can race?

If you are 18 years of age or older, and have a valid, government-issued ID (Driver License, State ID Card, Passport, Military ID) you can just show up and race.

Drivers under the age of 18 can show up and drive, but they MUST have a valid driver's license or learner's permit and their parent must be here in person to sign a liability waiver. If the legal parent cannot be here in person to sign, the liability form must be signed and accompanied by the legal parent's driver's license, state ID, or passport.

Any drivers who are under 18 years of age who do not have a driver license or learner's permit can be as young as 8, a minimum height of 4'0", and drive the Kid Karts or Junior Karts.

Persons under 8 years of age are ineligible to drive.

Can I bring my own equipment?

You may bring your own helmet if it meets the criteria below. You may also bring your own driving suit and neck support. Otherwise these items will be provided for you at no additional cost. You may not bring your own kart.

Street / Track Helmets

DOT/Snell 2000 or better
Full faced

Motocross helmets

Mouth guard must be integrated part of helmet
Clear goggles required

Does a driver permit work if I am under 18?

If you are under 18 years old a learner's permit does work. You will need to provide your learner's permit and have your legal parent sign a liability waiver. If the legal parent cannot be here in person to sign, the liability form must be signed and accompanied by the legal parent's driver's license, state ID, or passport.

If you are 18 or older, a learner's permit will work as long as it has a picture of you on it. If it does not, you'll need to bring in another form of government-issued ID.

Does an International ID work?

As long as your ID is valid and is government issued we will accept it.

What should I bring?

If you are coming to race, please bring a valid, government-issued ID and closed-toe shoes. If you are under 18 years of age and have a learner's permit or driver's license, you will also need to bring you legal parent or guardian to GoKart Racer to sign your liability waiver. If the legal parent cannot be here in person to sign, the liability form must be signed and accompanied by the legal parent's driver's license, state ID, or passport.

Can I rent the entire track?

The entire track can be rented for any occasion. Please refer to the events section of our website for details!

Are there any weight restrictions?

We don't have any weight limitations. It all depends on your own comfort level. Before registering and signing up to race you are welcome to sit in one of the karts and see how you feel. We do, however, have a minimum height of 4'10".

Is there training?

If you are a new member you will be required to watch a 7 minute safety video which explains how to operate the karts and the rules of the track.

Is it safe?

There are many safety measures taken to make this a safe experience. The karts are surrounded by a protective barrier to prevent the wheels from touching. There is a 4 point racing harness on each kart. The barrier system on the track is made of shock absorbent tires. There is an electronic shut off system on every kart that can slow down or stop any and all karts at any time. There are track marshals located around the track to ensure drivers are obeying the rules presented to them in the safety video. Each driver is required to wear a full face helmet and neck support.

Can we bring in any outside food?

The only outside food that we allow are birthday cakes. Catering is available through our events coordinator. For more details please refer to the events section for details. We also have a small trackside cafe with food, snacks and drinks.

Is there a viewing area for people who are not racing?

We have a lounge with an arcade and pool tables. Anyone who is not racing is welcome to spectate through the large viewing windows.

Do you have two seater karts?

No; all of our karts are made to hold only one person. We do not have any karts that can carry a passenger.

What is your privacy policy?

We guarantee that all personal information is kept confidential and will not be passed to any third parties. All of the information we require drivers to provide during the registration process is used only for insurance and liability purposes. If you enter your email address during registration we will send you our monthly newsletter, but entering an email address is optional.
